Austin Day 4

Today was all Omar all the time. Morning Omar recorded a segment for NPR’s All Tech Considered at the UT campus radio station and gave internet advice to a local theatre troupe. Afternoon Omar gave a tour of the Austin American-Statement offices and printing press and bought tickets to Star Trek at the best cinema in the universe — Alamo Drafthouse. Evening Omar pointed the way the the bat bridge when 1.5 million bats bolted out from the underside at twilight. Late evening Omar was treated to Amy’s Ice Cream. In celebration of Omar Day he got his own videogame.

Morning Omar recorded a segment for NPR’s All Tech Considered at the UT campus radio station

Would that be the segment where he totally spoiled the Kal Penn storyline on House, the plot twist that I had (with great effort) successfully avoided up until now while I was waiting to catch up on the season? I confess to a lot of fist-shaking and “DAMN YOUS OMAR G” after I heard that.

Oh my God, are you joking? The one that was all over the news because he now works for the White House?

I’m sorry but there’s no such thing as indefinite spoilers that last months and months until everyone catches up.

But I sympathize. A tiny microscopic bit.

Also, somebody shot J.R. It was Kristin Shepard.

    Sorry.

It’s not that I really expect anyone to honor its spoiler status at this late date, so much as that I had worked SO HARD not to find out, and been SO SUCCESSFUL (to the point where I was thinking, “Wow, this might actually work!”), and then you just had to come and spoil it out of nowhere!

And then you get to eat Amy’s ice cream and I don’t!

That’ll teach me to listen to that evil liberal radio. ;)

(And in case this is not coming across well on the internets, I love your NPR pieces and I am really only mock-frustrated.)

    And I’m only mock-mocking.

The Amy’s was pretty amazing, though. Get thee to Austin before they someday run out of Mexican vanilla + graham crackers + fresh strawberries.

Anyone care to share their reaction to the new Star Trek? I haven’t seen it yet.
