Oh Dewey, how you bring The Warm and The Fuzzies. We’re on day four of the 2008 book drive in support of the Negril All Age School Community Library (via The Rockhouse Foundation) and Children’s Institute and the donations are rolling in!
At press time this tally is roughly 160 donors, 400 books and 2500 dollars!
There’s a few options this year for donations. We’re collecting funds for the Rockhouse Foundation via Groundspring where you can donate a pre-set amount equal to the cost of a book, chair or even a computer or go freestyle and donate the $17.21 you have in your change jar. For Children’s Institute we are doing the classic Pamie sneak attack. Buy from their Amazon wish lists and see how long it takes them to find us on Dewey. Looks like they realized something is up as they bulked up their wish lists this morning but so far there as been no Dewey-CI contact. You can also donate via Glarkware by purchasing a Dewey the Decimal shirt. They cost $20 and $20 will go back into Dewey but the post office keeps the shipping cost because they are cold heartless people who eat babies! The shirts are available for pre-order until Feb. 29th.
There’s a lot of good reasons to donate to the drive. You get The Warm and The Fuzzies and libraries get much needed books and supplies that can genuinely change lives. There’s also the line-up of prizes that Dewey will be raffling off to the donors. Currently there’s a signed copy of the just-released Schuyler’s Monster we will give to one lucky donor who donates something to the drive through to Feb. 24. There will be more goodies after that including something Pamie’s got cooking that sounds like a lot of fun.
So please visit Dewey and think about making a donation soon!
If you have access to a cool prize we can raffle or maybe auction off please email us. You can also help out by spreading the word about the drive. This year we don’t have the ability to carpet bomb certain sites with tons of ads and notices like we have in past years so we hope you can help us get the word out this year. We’ve got graphics on the site if you can post about it on your blog or site. If we can help in any way to help you get Dewey attention please email us and we can have a chat.
Thanks to everyone who has and will help out this year on Dewey — you are awesome!
