Minneapolis is Headquarters to the World

by Glark on May 28, 2008

We were in Minneapolis last week to visit Jeff, Lora and Max (a.k.a. M. Giant, Trash and M. Small) and we had a great time. Lora was an excellent tour guide especially when you consider she broke her foot the day before we arrived! Things to know about Minneapolis:

  • It is headquarters to many Fortune 500 companies like Best Buy, Dairy Queen, Target, General Mills, Northwest and US Bank in addition to other businesses like Exxon, Lloyds of London, every kid’s lemonade stand ever, that place that sells those things, and it is also home to three other states.
  • There’s a shit ton of parks there and it’s way more scenic that you think — some even have giant cherries and speakers in them! Whee!
  • Every night at the border between St. Paul and Minneapolis townsfolk meet and fight for their honour
  • The industrial parks built in the 1970s have great street names like Computer Avenue and Disc Drive.
  • There’s a buffet-style place there called Q. Cumbers that was the inspiration for Souplantation but has all the charm of a hospital cafeteria from 1983. OMG, Q. Cumbers! I just got that.
  • The weather there is warm but unpredictable. We went from sunny skies to tornado back to sunny skies in 40 minutes.
